The name Rudraksha is of sanskrit origin as the seed rudraksha was originated in the Indian sub continent , to be precise in the great Himalayas. The meaning of this sacred word is Eyes of rudra(Shiva). Rudra or Shiva is the omniscient lord of the Hindus representing the trinity and symbolises the quality 'destruction' for the purposes of recreation for the universe to carry on .

Aksha means the eyes and rudraksha means the eyes of Rudra that is considered so sacred and divine. The reason behind this seed being known in the name of lord's eye unfolds the story of its mythological origin. Rudraksha seed has been assigned very special place in hindu scriptures and it is a fact that the same is assigned with many a mystical and divine property.
